Temporary part-time contract position

6 months (from September 28, 2026 to March 31, 2027) – With possibility of extension

12-hour shifts (days and nights) 22.5-37.5 hrs. per week

Must be available to work weekends and statutory holidays

3 on-call weekends per year

Maison McCulloch Hospice (MMH) is a Centre of Excellence dedicated to the collaborative delivery of quality hospice palliative care in both official languages. POSITION SUMMARY

The RN provides leadership and direct nursing care to residents in accordance with established policies and procedures of MMH including: assessing and anticipating the total physical, emotional, spiritual, and psychosocial needs; planning, documenting, and implementing care plans; evaluating effectiveness of care plans and making recommendations for changes where necessary; and ensuring medication control regulations are adhered to. RNs are expected to be positive role models for staff, volunteers, guests, family members, health care professionals, and the community.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Necessary:

· Bachelor of Science in Nursing

· Certified in Hospice Palliative Care Nursing (Canada) [CHPCN(C)] or willingness to pursue CHPCN(C) certification with the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA)

· Current licensure with the College of Nurses of Ontario

· Certified in Learning Essentials Approaches to Palliative Care (LEAP Core) or willing to obtain within 3 months of hire

· Police Vulnerable Sector Check

· Demonstrated expertise with pain and symptom management

Preferred:

· Recent medical / Hospice Palliative Care (HPC) experience

· Bilingualism (English/French), written and verbal, (or willingness to pursue) is an asset

Other Skills / Abilities:

· Knowledgeable about, and committed to, the Hospice philosophy of care

· Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

· Ability to organize and prioritize work

· Physical ability to perform the duties of the position

· Highly developed problem-solving and conflict management skills

· Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to work with residents/families living with, and dying from, advanced illness

· Intermediate computer skills (Word, Excel, and Outlook)

SALARY: Scale from $37.46 to $54.05 per hour

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Supportive Care & Grief Services Associate to join our interdisciplinary team. This is an opportunity to support residents, clients, families, staff, and volunteers through illness, dying and grief in a collaborative, mission-driven environment where your work truly matters.

Reporting to the Manager of Supportive Care and Grief Services, you will provide supportive, spiritual, and bereavement care at the hospice and within the Community Hospice Palliative Care Team (CHPCT). This role blends clinical expertise with deep human connection, supporting people through meaning-making, loss, and end-of-life care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group grief and bereavement support (virtual and in-person)
• Conduct supportive and spiritual care assessments and develop individualized care plans
• Support residents, clients, and families navigating illness, dying, and loss
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to deliver compassionate, person-centered care
• Advocate for residents/clients and families while connecting them with community resources
• Support legacy work, end-of-life planning, and diverse spiritual and cultural practices
• Collaborate with volunteers and contribute to staff and volunteer support, education, and debriefing
• Participate in quality improvement, program development, training, and community partnerships
• Participate in on-call rotation to ensure continuity of care
• Potential opportunity to support the Children’s Grief Program team

Qualifications & Experience

• BSW or MSW with registration in good standing with the OCSWSSW (required)
• Clinical Pastoral Education and/or advanced understanding of diverse spiritual practices
• Advanced knowledge of grief and bereavement support
• Experience in palliative care, end-of-life care, or spiritual care settings
• Bilingualism required (English/French) with advanced verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal, facilitation, organizational, and time management skills
• Knowledge and respect for multi-faith and multicultural perspectives
• Compassionate, grounded, and collaborative approach to care
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and knowledge of community resources
• Commitment to reflective practice and ongoing professional development
