Maison McCulloch Hospice (MMH) is a Centre of Excellence dedicated to the collaborative delivery of quality hospice palliative care in both official languages. We are looking to hire interested candidates who want to gain valuable experience in a wonderful community.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Groundskeeper is responsible for yard maintenance and upkeep of the Hospice Grounds (cutting grass, maintaining flower gardens, watering, weeding, sweeping walkways). The Groundskeeper also does indoor projects during inclement weather.

35 hours per week / flexible hours (start date – July 6, 2026; end date – August 28, 2026)

REQUIREMENTS

This position is funded by the government of Canada through the Canada Summer Jobs program.
Candidates must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
A Canadian Citizen, permanent resident or per person on whom refugee protection has been conferred  *International students are not eligible
Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada
Must provide a current police record check at own cost
Physical ability to perform the duties of the position: standing, bending, and walking for extended periods of time; lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling object(s) weighing up to 75 pounds

PREFERRED
Experience as a groundskeeper / manual laborer is an asset
Bilingual in both English and French is an asset

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Weeding, watering, trimming plants and bushes
Cleaning outdoor furniture, boardwalk, gazebo, shed
Sweeping sidewalks and parking lot
Removing cobwebs from exterior buildings and cleaning windows
Washing interior doors, baseboards, windows

SKILLS / ABILITIES
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Skill in operating grounds maintenance equipment and tools
Safety oriented and works in safe and healthy manner
Ability to complete repetitive tasks
Able to take directions from your supervisor and work effectively on your own

SALARY: $17.60 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY

The student Personal Support Worker (PSW) will assist in the following: activities of daily living (bathing, oral hygiene, hair; washing, peri-care, finger/toenail care), dressing, toileting (including colostomy care and managing catheter drainage bags), mobility (including using equipment or mechanical lift) and feeding. Additional duties may include tidying up workspace, applying splints or protective dressings, caring of body after death, providing emotional support to residents & families, meal preparation, laundry and terminal cleaning of rooms. The student PSW will work in a safe and healthy manner and follow the regulations in the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

• 35 hours per week / Monday to Sunday on rotating shift (start date – July 6, 2026; end date – August 28, 2026)

• Student or recent graduate from an accredited Personal Support Worker Program
• Must provide a current police vulnerable sector check at own cost
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position: lifting objects over 25 lbs., frequent standing, bending, constant walking

PREFERRED

• Experience as a personal support worker is an asset
• Bilingual in both English and French is an asset

SKILLS / ABILITIES

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to apply reasoning skills to work situations
• Time management skills
• Ability to complete repetitive tasks
• Ability to work with a team environment and take directions from your supervisor or acting supervisor (RN/ RPN)
